Job Overview / Summary

  • The Midwife is a member of the health team, and will be responsible for supporting the implementation of Reproductive Health activities, including the MISP (Minimum Initial Service Package for RH in Crisis Situations) according to the IRC and donor work plans.
  • She will work to ensure the improved quality of the project clinical activities e.g. family planning, maternal and neonatal care, case management of sexually transmitted diseases and the clinical management of sexual assault survivors in the IRC supported health facilities
  • The Midwife will ensure the well-being of girls and women in Monguno  through the IRC supported health facilities and RH Services at community level
  • The Midwife is responsible for the oversight and implementation of Maternal and Neonatal Care, in particular: Basic Emergency Obstetric and Neonatal Care (BEmONC), Antenatal Care and Postnatal Care, Counselling and provision of Family Planning (including Long term methods), care for sexual assault survivals are offered according to MoH Guidelines at the IRC supported health facilities is of quality standard, Post Abortion Care.

Major Responsibilities
In line with the Minimal Initial Service Package (MISP):

  • Provide the Clinical Care for Sexual Assault Survivors (CCSAS) according to national protocols and guidelines.
  • Provide the clinical care activities in the IRC RH clinical area or at the maternity
  • Adhere to and practice use of Universal Precautions, Covid19 health facility guidance and proper waste management at all IRC supported health facilities.
  • Performs basic and assisted delivery care.
  • Performs any needed neonatal and obstetric resuscitation activity.
  • Ensures timely supported referrals to the nearest Emergency Obstetric Care center.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to other midwives in assisted deliveries (by vacuum, and breech).
  • Identifies survivors of sexual assault and refers them for registration, counseling and Clinical Care Support the RH and GBV clinic staff with technical advice, and provides services in line with the MoH and / or international best practice guidelines.
  • Monitor progress against grant work plan; promptly identifying any current or potential delays and recommending solutions to technical issues.
  • Monitor program supply inventory levels; perform monthly spot-checks on program inventory
  • Work with and provide timely technical support to IRC’s implementing partners; maintain respectful and constructive relations with partner staff, services providers and patients.

Qualifications
Preference:

  • This is non-relocatable position, and as such indigenes / residents of Monguno will be given preference.

Education:

  • Qualified Midwife / Nurse with a Degree / Diploma / Certificate and a practicing license Work Experience

Work Experience:

  • At least 1 year experience in midwifery and nursing care preferably in SRH, at BEmONC and at  primary health care level

Demonstrated Skills and Competencies:

  • Skills to communicate on sensitive RH topics, provide RH education
  • Experience counseling survivors of abuse or violence with a reputable organization.
  • Clear understanding of gender equality and gender issues for women and girls.
  • Ability to maintain beneficiary confidentiality and respect at all times is essential.

Background / IRC Summary
The IRC has been working in Nigeria since 2012, IRC entered Nigeria in October 2012 in response to a widespread flood disaster. IRC’s emergency response team, with local partner CISCOPE (Civil Society Coalition for Poverty Eradication), implemented a project to support livelihoods and improve WASH in Kogi State from February to May 2013 to January 2014. This was followed by a 3month nutrition and food security program in the same location from October 2013 to January 2014.

IRC has been supporting programming in Adamawa State since early 2014. The current project addresses malnutrition and associated health concerns among conflict-affected persons in North-Center Adamawa State. In addition, IRC is beginning a new education focused grant looking at non-traditional educational access for conflict-affected youth

Responsibilities

  • Keeps equipment available for use by inspecting and testing vehicles, completing preventive maintenance such as, engine tune-ups, oil changes, tire rotation and changes, wheel balancing, replacing filters.
  • Maintains vehicle functional condition by listening to drivers complaints; conducting inspections; repairing engine failures; repairing mechanical and electrical systems malfunctions; replacing parts and components; repairing body damage.

Job Overview / Summary:

  • Under the management of the Program manager and Snr Case Management Officer, The WPE case management Officer will coordinates with other WPE staff/sectors to ensure survivors needs are met in a timely manner using survivor centered approach and provide supportive supervision to WPE Case Workers to ensure properly and timely case documentation, services provision and follow up are provided for identified GBV survivors, with the use of GBVIMS incident recorder and be able to make analysis of trends for an informed programing, strengthen response and prevention activities and decision making
  • Will ensuring that hard copies of all cases documented are kept in a safe and secured cabinet with lock and key
  • As well coordinate with other GBV partners in Yobe to solidify GBV sub sector working group activities in the State.

Major Responsibilities

  • Provide regular supervision to case Management Assistants and make sure that staff correctly document cases in GBVIMS+ and ensure that they follow the steps involved in case management, document the action plan and work with survivor to implement plan as well as Follow-up with them to ensure developed plans are implemented accordingly.
  • Participate actively in GBV sub sector working group
  • Lead in case Management review meetings/conferences.
  • Ensure case management steps are followed, referrals and documentation are happening in an appropriately and timely manner.
  • Maintain files on all GBV documented cases and follow-ups in all operational areas.
  • Regularly update documentation and maintain database for all documented cases, plan of action and follow-ups visits using the GBVIMS.
  • Conduct regular meetings with caseworkers for debriefing and provide support as may be needed.

Job Overview / Summary

  • The Health Assistant is responsible for supporting patient care at the mobile clinics and overseeing Community Health activities for the population in the catchment area of IRC mobile clinics in Monguno, Borno State.
  • Under the supervision of the Clinical Health Officer, the Health Assistant will work to contribute to the overall success of the IRC Emergency Health Program in Monguno, Borno State.

Main Responsibilities
Technical Program Management:

  • Assist the Clinical Health Officer and Nutrition Officer in patient care at the mobile clinics.
  • Act as the link between mobile clinics and the community to ensure awareness of available services, proper follow-up of patients and defaulter tracing.
  • Develop and conduct training of community volunteers on pillars of safe motherhood, infant and young child feeding practices, general child care and hygiene promotion and other relevant health topics, periodically.
  • Provide health and nutrition messaging in the communities, in collaboration with community volunteers.
  • Collect weekly activity reports from the CVs, review, discuss and submit to the team leader.

Job Overview / Summary

Major Responsibilities
Engineering Designs, Drawings and Bills of Quantities:

  • Assist Engineer IRC Nigeria to produce appropriate technical & engineering sketches and produce relevant engineering drawings / designs for programs and operations. Such Buildings include but not limited to, classrooms, Clinics, Nutrition centers, Comprehensive Women Centers (CWCs), offices, Stores, walkways, VIP Latrines, Bathing shelters, Security guard shelters, Pump houses, Incinerators, water distribution networks, Water storage tank towers, Underground water tanks, drainage works, Drilling of boreholes, septic tanks, soak pits among others.
  • Assist Engineer IRC Nigeria to develop technically sound engineering structural designs both for program and operation constructions as per the Nigerian Building Code and other internationally recognized building standards.
  • Assist Engineer IRC Nigeria to prepare schedule of materials and Bills of Quantities for the relevant designs and submit for approvals.
  • Assist Engineer IRC Nigeria to conduct feasibility studies, engineering surveys and measurements necessary for the design, construction as well as for purposes of rehabilitation of existing structures while maintaining up to date database with GPS Coordinates, location maps and route plans of all infrastructure projects.

Contract Management and procurement of services and Materials:

  • Assist Engineer IRC Nigeria to prepare all required documentations needed for the tendering, procurement, contract signing and monitoring of the various works and services.

  • Assist in prequalification of construction contractors
  • Support in the review of construction SWOR Analysis

Qualifications
