Job Title: Safety Officer
Location: Calabar – Cross River
Employment Type: Contract
Job Responsibilities/Accountabilities
- Provide general support to the health and safety manager
- Assist the safety manager with health and safety monitoring activities
- Assist the safety manager with the management of fire safety throughout the organization
- Assist with the coordination and management of PPE, laboratory coats, environmental waste and environmental waste storage areas
- Liaise closely with the facilities management team to manage issues relating to the facilities service provision and specifically waste disposals, buildings, fire safety equipment, electrical testing and safety audit non-compliances
- Review and record checks on all fire exits, fire and fire equipment and fire signs
- Educate workers and employees on safety aspects, assists in preparing safety manuals and guidelines
- Inspect work area premises for hazardous elements
- Strictly adhere to corporate safety guidelines and procedures
- Promote the organization culture through standard policies
Requirements
- First degree holder in Safety Management or related field
- Minimum of four years cognate experience
- Good understanding of legal health and safety guidelines
- Detail oriented and high-level observation abilities
- Problem solving skills
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Technical know-how
- Certification and trainings in HSE are mandatory
Job Title: Site Supervisor
Location: Calabar – Cross River
Employment Type: Contract
Job Responsibilities
- Inspecting construction sites regularly to identify and eliminate potential safety hazards.
- Supervising and instructing the construction team as well as subcontractors.
- Educating site workers on construction safety regulations and accident protocol.
- Enforcing site safety rules to minimize work-related accidents and injuries.
- Handling site accidents in accordance with established accident protocol.
- Maintaining an accurate record of construction employee attendance.
- Evaluating the performance of construction employees and instituting disciplinary measures as needed.
- Analyzing blueprints to ensure that construction projects meet design, safety, and budget specifications.
- Recommending changes to construction operations or procedures to increase efficiency.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Civil Engineering, or related field is preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years proven experience working as a Site Supervisor or civil engineer
- In depth knowledge of health and safety compliance and safety equipment
- Sound knowledge of building codes and construction safety regulations.
- Working knowledge of construction tools and equipment.
- The ability to interpret blueprints.
- Additional relevant certifications and trainings in civil engineering and HSE will be added advantage.
- Outstanding leadership skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent organizational and communication skills.
