Procurement Executive in a Furniture Manufacturing Company

A Furniture Manufacturing Company is currently recruiting suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Title: Procurement Executive

Location: Lekki, Lagos
Employment Type: Full-time

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for various Procurement activities related to the operation of the business and will advise on strategies, research, requirements, and planning with a focus on cost optimization and high-performance ratios on products and services.

Key Accountabilities
Strategy & Budget:

  • Embed the procurement strategy ,objectives and programmes into the longer term strategic financial plans for the business
  • Provide a strategic, efficient and flexible procurement service which will deliver optimum value for money, cost savings and best quality of service
  • Create and implement regional procurement strategies that are innovative, cost-effective, and incorporate the growing complexities and challenges within industry
  • Analyze market and delivery systems in order to assess present and future material availability

Relationship Management:

  • Development of the vendors to ensure that all deliverables; cost, quality, technical support, process control, logistics and the overall service levels are achieved and ongoing improvements sustained
  • Develop key relationships with the businss stakeholders and supply partner to improve process
  • Nurtures relationships with suppliers to negotiate the best prices for company
  • Explore business opportunities and contribute to the develpoment of supply arrangement

General Operations Management:

  • Ensure goods purchased are in accordance with specified requirements and match given specifications by the clients or the project teams
  • Ensure goods purchased are in accordance with the company policies and procedures such as raising of PO’s etc

People Management:

  • Manage, coach and develop a high performing team that meets agreed objectives and delivers best practice results, added value and continuous improvements
  • Set departmental objectives/KPIs and review and assess ongoing performance of direct reports
  • Report on achievement of targets and identify any actions required

Process Improvement:

  • Review current processes for procurement and make recommendations where appropriate.

Directly Reports to:

  • Managing Director

Directly Supervises:

  • Purchasing officer

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes

  • Good first degree in business administration,supply chain management, or relevant discipline
  • Possession of a higher degree(s), such as M.Sc, MBA, is desirable
  • Minimum of five (5) years of proven working experience as a Procurement referably in a Furniture manufacturing environment
  • Strong strategic orientation
  • Strong operational orientation

Key Competency Requirements:

  • Demonstrated ability to build and maintain effective working relationships across functions, organizations, and suppliers/vendors
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve complex process/systems problems
  • Demonstrated project management, project planning, scheduling, and tracking abilities
  • Ability to establish organizational objectives and relevant metrics
  • Experience giving presentations to senior executives
  • Strong influence/negotiation skills
  • Experienced in the creation, negotiation, and administration of contracts
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills
