Institute of Directors Centre for Corporate Governance (IoDCCG) became a legal entity on 17th May, 2006. It is a collaborative project of three partners namely: Institute of Directors Nigeria, an affiliate of the Institute of Directors, United Kingdom and Member of the African Corporate Governance Network, the premier organization in Nigeria responsible for director development, the Securities & Exchange Commission (SEC), the regulatory authority for the Nigerian Capital Market and the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC), the sole agency of government responsible for registration of companies in Nigeria. IoD Centre for Corporate Governance is a registered non-profit organization committed to improving and promoting good corporate governance principles, standards and practices in Nigeria through advocacy, research, high quality trainings and Corporate Governance consulting mandates.
The Centre is at the forefront of advocating the application of leading practices by private and public organisations, thereby contributing to, and advancing best and leading practices and culture of good Corporate Governance.

Job Title: Head, Corporate Governance Advisory, Research & Publications (Senior Manager Position)

Summary Of Functions
The Head, CG Advisory, Research & Publications will be responsible for developing content for the Centre’s Corporate Governance services; providing sustainable high-quality research, research funding and regular publications that contribute to the Centre’s objectives of advocacy, inculcation and acculturation of the core principles of good corporate governance in Nigeria. The person will also double as the Board Secretary; Duties and activity expectations include but are not limited ability to:
- Conceptualise, undertake and publish policy-relevant research on training/development and corporate governance, ethics, anti-corruption compliance, regulations and other related issues.
- Develop contents for the Centre’s various Corporate Governance Services i.e. Board Evaluation, Corporate Governance Evaluation/Audit, Board Induction etc.
- Work with the Head, Programmes and Membership Marketing to conceptualise workshops/trainings/courses/certifications as research may inform as well as corporate governance research and publications for the benefit of the Centre and its stakeholders especially members.
- Provide full board support to the Centre’s Board of Governors including creation of agendas, collation and distribution of board packs, management of board meetings including, producing detailed board minutes etc.
- Participate in the development of the Corporate Governance policies and procedures framework, as well as in-dept knowledge on Board Evaluation, that will allow the Centre to effectively meet its objectives and targets.
- Build the Centre’s reputation as a source of credible research and evidence-based advocacy in corporate governance and related fields.
- Seek collaborations with private sector/international organisations for research and forum.
- Source research grants for the furtherance of the Centre’s research activities.
- Quarterly publications, special sectoral reports, magazines and newsletters.
- Conceptualise and develop the Centre’s Library (Including e-library), seek book and resource donations by foreign and/or local organisation/publishers.
- Develop and drive the Centre’s e-platforms and its e-publications.
Qualifications, Skills And Attributes
Education/Qualification:
- Bachelor’s Degree and a Master’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, Statistics, Law or other relevant fields.
- Professional Qualification; Relevant professional qualification will be an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum 5-10 years’ experience in the corporate experience, of which at least 2 years in a managerial capacity in the design of a corporate governance framework, board evaluation and development of a delegation of authority matrix.
Functional Skills & Specific Knowledge:
- Solid knowledge of corporate governance practices.
- Strong understanding of database structures, reporting tools and computer systems.
- Should have good organizational and planning abilities including the ability to deal with/work under pressure and tight deadlines.

Summary of Functions
- The Head, Programmes & Membership will be responsible for developing content for the Centre’s Programmes; initiating and setting goals for programmes according to the strategic objectives of the Centre, direct and oversee membership activities of the organisation.
Duties and activity expectations include but are not limited to the ability to:
- Initiate and set goals for programmes according to the strategic objectives of the organization.
- Develop contents for training in Corporate Governance, Anti -corruption and Ethics Compliance
- Mobilise critical stakeholders in Public and Private Sector organisations for sponsorship of the Centre’s programmes
- Design programmes with high impact that will attract grants from development partners/multilateral organisations as well as from local partners.
- Write training and programmes concepts and presentations.
- Plan the programmes from start to completion involving deadlines, milestones and processes.
- Demonstrate Strong Marketing skills leading to membership recruitment and programmes and training participation targets.
- Direct and oversee membership activities of the Centre.
- Develop Programmes, initiatives and policies designed to increase Membership of the Centre.

- Build the Centre’s reputation as a source of credible research and evidence based-advocacy in corporate governance and related fields.
- Identify potential grants, develop grant proposals and assist in grant completion and submission processes.
- Develop yearly and quarterly research work plans according to project needs
- Market corporate governance projects, including Board Evaluation, Corporate Governance Frameworks, Board Induction, In-Plant training, etc.
- Liaise with departmental heads to seek collaboration with private sector/international organisations for research projects and seek to win research grants.
- Identify and implement marketing strategies for sales of the Centre’s Publication so as to ensure that annual targets set for publication sales are met and exceeded.

- Develop and implement strategies for marketing and servicing Corporate membership of the Centre.
- Develop Concept Notes for the Centre’s Programmes
- Develop and implement strategies for effective marketing of the Centre’s Training Programmes and In-plants
- Oversee administrative duties in Programmes & Membership Department including filing and database Management with the support of the Admin. Officer.
- Effective coordination, marketing and timely reporting of workshops, seminars and other capacity building programmes on corporate governance and related fields
- Liaise with vendors and suppliers for the Centre’s membership and training materials and ensure timely delivery.
- Oversee receipt and dispatch of correspondence and maintain appropriate files and records.
- Effective identification and recruitment of potential corporate members
- Analyse feedback forms after each training and ensure that recommendation for improvement is followed up for implementation
- Ensure the early preparation of Programme and Membership Marketing Budget
