StartupSouth – South-South/South-East focused Startup/Entrepreneurship Ecosystem development and support organization is looking for high level professionals to help achieve her goals. The roles are for senior/experienced professionals who are willing to commit on a part time basis to support the growth of Startup ecosystem in Nigeria – especially in the South-South/South-East.

Job Title: Community Associate

This Job opening is currently a volunteer (Part-time) position, with a high prospect of converting to full time based on performance evaluation after a 6 month period.

Responsibilities

  • Support planning and coordination of all S2C community program and activities across the various city chapters in the South-South and South-East of Nigeria.
  • Ensure the implementation of policies and practices according to the S2C engagement curriculum
  • Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions
  • Manage communications through media relations, social media etc.
  • Help build positive relations within the team and external parties
  • Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda
  • Ensure technology is used correctly for all operations (video conferencing, presentations etc.)
  • Prepare paperwork and order material
  • Keep updated records and create reports or proposals
  • Support growth and program development across S2C

    Requirements

  • Proven experience as a program coordinator or relevant position
  • Knowledge of program management and development procedures
  • Experience in facilitating trainings
  • Knowledge of budgeting, bookkeeping and reporting
  • Tech-savvy, proficient in MS Office
  • Ability to work with diversity and multi-disciplinary teams
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills
  • Detail-oriented and efficient
  • BSc/BA in business administration or relevant field

Job Title: Communication Associate

The Communications Associate is a tech-savvy professional, experienced in social media, PR and promotional events, most importantly, has significant engagement around the South-South and South-East tech and business development ecosystem.

Our ideal candidate is someone with exceptional oral and written communication skills and is able to develop engaging content. Be a ‘people person’ with great customer service skills and the ability to moderate online and offline conversations with our community. Ultimately, should be able to act as the face and voice of our brand and manage all community communications.

Responsibilities

  • Set and implement social media and communication campaigns to align with the community development and engagement strategies.
  • Provide engaging text, image and video content to drive engagement across S2C social media accounts.
  • Respond to comments and community members queries in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor and report on feedback and online reviews.
  • Organize and participate in events to build community and boost brand awareness.
  • Coordinate with management, community stakeholders, PR and Communications teams to ensure brand consistency.
  • Liaise with all relevant community stakeholders to stay updated on new trends and activities. while leading community interactions and development around them.
  • Build relationships with the community members, potential members, industry professionals and journalists.
  • Stay up-to-date with digital technology and business trends.

    Requirements

  • Proven work experience as a Community Associate
  • Experience launching community initiatives (e.g. building an online forum, launching an ambassador program, creating an event series and writing an email newsletter)
  • Ability to identify and track relevant community metrics (e.g. repeat attendance at events)
  • Excellent verbal communication skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • Hands-on experience with social media management for brands
  • Ability to interpret website traffic and online community engagement metrics
  • Knowledge of online tools like Slack, Google Suites and products
  • Attention to detail and ability to multitask
  • BSc degree in any relevant field of learning

Job Title: Finance Associate

StartupSouth Community (S2C) is looking for a reliable Finance Associate that will analyze everyday financial activities and subsequently provide advice and guidance to upper management on future financial plans.

An ideal candidate will be a young and excellent leader with experience in managing projects of different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner. He/She will also be able to develop efficient strategies and tactics.
The goal is to enable #StartupSouth community leaders to make sound business decisions and meet set objectives for #StartupSouth Community (S2C) and its members.

Responsibilities

  • Provide financial reports and interpret financial information to managerial staff while recommending further courses of action.
  • Advice on investment activities and provide strategies that the company should take.
  • Maintain the financial health of the organization.
  • Analyze costs, pricing, variable contributions, sales results and the company’s actual performance compared to the business plans.
  • Develop trends and projections for the firm’s finances.
  • Conduct reviews and evaluations for cost-reduction opportunities.
  • Oversee operations of the finance department, set goals and objectives, and design a framework for these to be met.
  • Manage the preparation of the company’s budget.
  • Liaise with auditors to ensure appropriate monitoring of company finances is maintained.
  • Correspond with various other departments, discussing company plans and agreeing on future paths to be taken.

    Requirements

  • Experience in the financial sector with previous possible roles such as financial analyst.
  • Extensive understanding of financial trends both within the company and general market patterns.
  • Proficient user of finance software.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
  • Able to manage, guide and lead employees to ensure appropriate financial processes are being used.
  • A solid understanding of financial statistics and accounting principles.
  • Previous experience with Fundraising.
  • Working knowledge of all statutory legislation and regulations.
  • BS/MA degree in Finance, Accounting or Economics.
  • Professional qualification such as CFA/CPA or similar will be considered a plus.
