Job Title: Project Accountant

Location: Benin City, Edo

Job Description

  • Project Accountant (PA) is a strategic partner in running the Project and plays a crucial role in providing central financial direction to the Project. The PA will direct and oversee all financial functions of the Project, create, and drives a culture of financial discipline and prudence in all transactions and resource allocations.
  • He/ She will be required to keep complete and accurate accounting records at all times and present reports on all financial transactions to the Project Team, Project Promoters and any other 3rd parties that may be required.
  • He/ She will prepare and monitor periodic cash flow projections, manage the liquidity position of the Project, and ensure prompt settlement of liabilities including statutory payments and all forms of taxes that may impinge on the timely completion of the project. This will include ensure that foreign exchange exist to be settle contractors and consultant’s invoices in line with budgeted exchange rates and ensure that the project ‘s open position is with approved limits and is fully covered.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Project Accountant is responsible for the assessment of the company’s performance against both the annual budget (in line with the levers of control) and the company’s approved 5-year Plan.
  • The Project Accountant is responsible for ensuring that all foreign currency payments are made in accordance with contracted terms and budgeted exchange rates.
  • Responsible for periodic Macro-Economic Analysis to help review the Project’s strategic assumptions and advice on redress measures where necessary.
  • Develops tools and systems to provide critical financial and operational information to the Project Team and provides actionable recommendations on both strategy and operations.
  • Identify risks and possible bottlenecks in the Project Operations and report on possible impact on all aspects of operations.
  • Ensure that the project is executed within the approved project costs, mange all loan interface with the banks and plan the project cashflows.
  • The Project accountant will ensure that financial discipline and prudence is applied for all transactions and will provide primary controls to ensure that the assets of the project are well secured.
  • Put the right mechanism in place to ensure Business Pays all obligations on due date, stays Cash-Flow Positive throughout the period in line with the financial indicators in the plan.
  • Responsible for the seamless and real-time running of the financial reporting processes to aid speed of service delivery to both internal and external parties.
  • Report the actual financial Performance and compare with the Control Levers.
  • Oversee the finance and Accounts unit to ensure proper maintenance of all accounting systems and function.
  • Oversee payroll budgeting, monthly payroll, and all related controls. Assist in the design, implementation, and timely calculations of wages, incentives, commissions, and bonuses and ensure adequate cash flow for payroll payments.
  • Insurance Claim workflow should be strictly monitored, and each claim settled/closed within a month after the incident.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a second Class upper in Accounting, Economics, or Finance from a reputable university
  • Must be a Chartered Accountant (ACCA or ACA).
  • An MBA or equivalent postgraduate management degree will be an advantage.
  • Applicant must have a Minimum of 5 years working experience in similar role as project Accountant.

Job Title: Community Engagement Manager

  • We are looking for a Community Engagement Manager to join our team. You will be supporting local residents and stakeholders to design and deliver on a range of projects aimed at improving the wellbeing of the host communities.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Working in an inclusive and engaging way with local people to support them to design and deliver on local projects.
  • Supporting day-to-day project coordination – including planning, project delivery, administration and responding to tasks
  • Networking, developing, and sustaining positive relationships with a range of people from different backgrounds and age ranges – including residents, community leaders, local groups, services and organisations, project partners and local authorities.
  • Working as part of a team to engage a broader range of people to become active leaders in their community, ensuring that they remain engaged and involved and that your approach puts people first and is tailored to their unique needs.
  • Overseeing the development of a wide range of community-led projects using an approach which is flexible, adaptable and considers sustainability.
  • Using your initiative alongside the team to support new ideas to develop into projects and not being afraid to try, fail and try again.
  • Working alongside the team to recruit and manage volunteers and apprentices.
  • Working with the team and volunteers to co-design, organise and hold activities and events that draw in and involve a range of people and stakeholders.

Qualifications / Expereince

  • Minimum of a Second-class degree B. Agric (Hons), First degree in social sciences in the field of sociology, political science, public administration from a reputable university or any other degree with advance certificate in sociology/social works is preferred.
  • Preferred Candidate must have a minimum of 5- 10years’ experience working in similar capacity or roles in public contacts (extension services workers, public relations officer etc.).

Competencies / Skiils Required:

  • Experience working and connecting with organisations, services and different communities in Edo State.
  • Experience in designing and facilitating community workshops, activities, and events where everyone feels able to attend and contribute.
  • Experience in supporting people to design and lead sustainable community projects.
  • Experience in balancing time between multiple projects and responsibilities, including responding to volunteers, attending various meetings, and completing administrative tasks.
  • Experience contributing to reports, project plans, and monitoring, evaluation, and learning processes.
  • Excellent people and communication skills, including relationship-building, conflict-management, and facilitation.
  • Hard-working, reliable and organised, able to manage a varied and challenging workload and work well both as part of a team and alone.
  • Willing and able to work in different environments, including being office-based and spending a large amount of time out and about in local neighborhoods.
  • Comfortable working in an open and flexible way and responding to the changing priorities of the people and contexts you will be working with
  • Ability to learn quickly, respond proactively to challenges and maintain enthusiasm to support local people to make a change.
  • Some understanding or experience of using qualitative or participatory research methods.
  • Experience of using creative or digital platforms and techniques for community engagement.
  • Experience of reports, presentations, vlogs, blogs, and other creative mediums to engage a wide range of audiences.
