Job Title: Facilities Manager
Location: Umuahia, Abia
Job Description
- The Facility Manager would be responsible for the management of all academic & non-academic facilities including, maintenance of Government College Umuahia. Ensuring that facilities are up to standard.
Facilities Manager Job Duties
- Manage the overall services of all equipment housed within the school premises.
- Maintain entire responsible for the security, maintenance and services of work facilities to ensure that they meet the required needs.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing and agreeing contracts and providers for services including, parking, cleaning, catering and technology. (CSO role will take responsibility for security matters).
- Supervising multi-disciplinary teams of staff including cleaning, maintenance, grounds and security.
- Ensuring that basic facilities, such as water, power, utilities and refuse are well managed.
- Managing budgets and ensuring cost-effectiveness of all facilities of the school not limited to water management, refuse disposal and power supply AC, DC and solar energy.
- Ensuring that facilities meet government regulations and environmental, health and security standards.
- He / She looks after what has been delivered and maintains it.
- He/she ensures they do not fall below the benchmark.
- Ensures that the built environment in the school maintains the impeccable quality delivered to him.
Qualifications & Skills Preferred
- At least 3 years of experience and a Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Environmental Sciences or a related field.
- Problem-solving and analytical skills; time-management skills; maintenance experience; familiarity with building upkeep, structural issues, and grounds maintenance; budgeting skills; interpersonal and communication skills; organizational and planning skills; leadership skills; flexible scheduling.
- He / she must possess excellent negotiating skills. A working knowledge of the environment will be an added advantage.
Job Title: Chief Financial Officer
Location: Umuahia, Abia

Job Description
- To be responsible for the General Management and Administration of the day to day financial, personnel management and advising on general financial policy within Government College Umuahia.
- The CFO will normally be responsible to the governing body for the conduct of the financial affairs, business management and material state of the premises and to the head of the school for day-to-day administration.
Main Job Responsibilities Include:
- Preparing annual estimates of income and expenditure to include the preparation of departmental budgets within the school, the latter in consultation with the head or senior academic staff.
- Monitoring income and expenditure in relation to budget and presenting regular management reports to the governing body.
- Keeping the accounts of the school and preparing Statements of Financial Activity and balance sheet
- Conduct Annual Audit of the school account and present Audited report to the stakeholders
- Maintaining cash flow projections for the current and future years.
- Advising on investments in consultation with the school’s brokers or investment managers.
- Preparing the students bills and collecting all fees and extras.
- Management of payroll and payment of all salaries and wages with regulations for benefits in kind.
- Administering pension schemes for teaching and non-teaching staff.
- Scrutinizing and passing for payment all invoices received in the school and organizing special appeals for capital projects or endowment funds.
- Preparing forecasts for the future financial performance of the school; usually over a period of five years.
- Preparing financial appraisals of the projects within the school.
- Advising on taxation matters generally, including covenants from subsidiary companies to the parent charity and, where appropriate, ensure compliance with regulations for VAT.
- Advising on scholarship and bursary funds and undertaking assessments of parents’ income and assets prior to making bursary awards.
Preferred Qualifications
- A qualified accountant with minimum of 3 years’ experience and a Bachelor’s Degree, strong financial accounting skills, able to manage large budgets efficiently, the ability to manage groups of staff, written and oral presentation skills, effective time management and organizational skills, strong leadership and planning skills.
Job Title: Chief Security Officer
Location: Umuahia, Abia

Job Description
- The Chief Security Officer (CSO) is the executive in charge of the management of security of the school environment and is primarily responsible for the security of the premises of Government College Umuahia and all the assets within the building, access to facilities, and the surveillance equipment.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement strategic security protocols and procedures.
- Provide strategic vision and direction in security aspects of the school environment.
- Develop policies and protocols for securing and protecting sensitive information.
- Hire and recruit the best talent in building up the security of an organization.
- Coordinate cross team functional in maintaining vigilance and security of GCU.
- Develop logistics to protect intellectual property, copyrights and other related risks.
- Utilize information technology to protect electronic information resources.
- Initiate safety measures to protect the lives of all stakeholders within the school unit.
- Able to review and enhance policies and procedures to ensure safety of the work environment.
- Anticipation of future and task is critical for a security manager.
- Must possess relevant network to obtain necessary information.
- Deep and broad knowledge on safety and security with relevant experience.
- Must be a resourceful person to manage a complex situation.
Qualifications & Skills Preferred
- At least 3 years of experience and a Bachelor’s Degree or specialized certifications and training in site management
- Proven experience as security manager or similar position, experience using relevant technology and equipment (e.g. CCTV), experience in reporting and emergency response planning, excellent knowledge of security protocols and procedures, working knowledge of MS Office, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, strong interpersonal and communication skills; multi-tasking skills; organizational and planning skills; leadership skills; flexible scheduling.
