Job Description

• We are looking for a Data Scientist who will support our product, sales, leadership and marketing teams with insights gained from analyzing company data.
• The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. They must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations.
• They must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights.
• They must be comfortable working with a wide range of stakeholders and functional teams. The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes.

Key Tasks and Responsibilities

• Acquiring, authenticating and analyzing data from primary or secondary data sources and using data acquired to build analytics systems, derive insights, and identify anomalies.
• Working with credit team to develop the organization’s credit assessment algorithm including development of credit scores for borrowers.
• Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques to develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
• Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize customer experiences, loan origination, revenue generation, ad targeting and other business outcomes.
• Develop company A/B testing/experimentation framework and test model quality for credit assessment and loan originations.
• Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
• Work with management to prioritize business and information needs and locate and define new process improvement opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, accounting, statistics, mathematics, engineering, computer science, information management, investments or a related business discipline (MBA, CPA, or CFA is a plus).
• 5 years+ of experience working with an Investment Bank, Management Consulting Firm or in an advanced degree course with heavy math and/or statistics requirements.
• Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel, SPSS,SAS etc).
• Attention to Detail: The conclusions drawn from your data analysis will drive critical departmental initiatives. Accuracy and attention to detail are paramount.
• Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques.
• Strong knowledge of and experience with reporting packages (Business Objects etc), databases (SQL etc), programming (XML, JavaScript, or ETL frameworks). Advanced Excel skills with a strong understanding of Microsoft Office, other CRM applications and email marketing strategies
• Analytical Skills: Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
• Math Skills: Deep understanding of basic statistical methods.
