Job Title: Director of Research & Advocacy

Overview
- The Director of Research and Advocacy provides strategic and operational oversight for research, surveys and advocacy programs, events and publications required to promote the mandate of the organization; manages and supervises the research and advocacy activities and programs, economic publications, and any other related activities that enhance or increase the growth of membership for the organization oversees the research team in steering and conducting research on relevant topical issues bothering on corporate governance, ethics, leadership and the economy.
Job Summary
- Provide strategic and operational oversight on advocacy programmes, events, communications and publications for the purpose of promoting the mandate of the organization
- Manage and supervise advocacy programmes, research, communications, public relation activities, and any other related activities that enhance or increase the growth of business
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop advocacy strategies and develop implementation plans to achieve them including performance measures
- Oversee the research team in steering and conducting research on relevant topical issues bothering on corporate governance, ethics, leadership and the economy
- Oversee the use of research and evaluation tools (e.g. surveys or desktop research) and ensure that data is collected and analyzed accurately
- Produce periodic reports, articles, and concept papers based on research and oversee their translation into advocacy programmes
- Oversee the planning and delivery of all advocacy programmes and events
- Identify and develop collaborative relationships with key stakeholders in government, and industry and leverage these relationships in executing the organization’s advocacy strategies
- Collaborate with Membership and Branch Development team on events that support recruitment of new members
- Oversee the preparation and release of corporate communications and publications
- Oversee and maintain relationships with media houses
- Perform any other tasks as assigned by the CEO
Education and Work Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Management or any other related field
- 10-15 years relevant experience, with at least 8 years in a managerial position
- A post-graduate degree in any related field will be an added advantage
- Member of a relevant professional body e.g. CIPM, NIM
Competency and Skills Requirements:
- Ability to think strategically and holistically
- Strong leadership and people management skills, with ability to collaborate with cross-functional and inter-regional teams
- Strong understanding of corporate communications, brand and public relations management
- Strong business acumen and ability to identify opportunities.
