Job Title: FSL Assistant
Location: Maiduguri, Borno
Job Summary
- The selected candidate(s) will work as part of the core team implementing daily food distribution and all activities at food distribution points.
- This will include activities during the General Food Distribution in-kind and cash-based transfers to IDPs and host communities and any other livelihood activities implemented within the program areas in Borno State.
Responsibilities
Implementation of Programs Activities:
- Work with M&E and data clerks to conduct beneficiary registration and update the register with new arrivals and exits regularly.
- Compile and timely submit the food requests to WFP logistics and program unit.
- Conduct beneficiary sensitization on- food rations, cash entitlement, distribution days, distribution points, beneficiary rights, etc.
- Maintain open line of communication with the beneficiaries to obtain feedback and complaints and pass them on to the CFM Assistant or appropriate authority.
- Conduct beneficiary verification, validation and registration on distribution days.
- Identify and prioritize vulnerable people on distribution days with support from the Project Management Committee (PMC) members.
- Update and reconcile stock issues against the distribution list after every distribution.
- Disseminate findings from Post Distribution Monitoring (PDM) conducted to the beneficiaries.
- Coordinate the food committee and SEMA/NEMA officials in the implementation of program activities and engage them in meetings to discuss program related issues.
- Work with the security manager to ensure effective crowd control and safety of beneficiaries and staff at the distribution points.
- Work with team leaders to organize vehicles and materials required for food and cash distributions and any other program materials needed.
- Send timely reports to the team leaders about food received, suspected or confirmed losses or damages
- Supervise and coordinate the casual workers, transporters and other team members to ensure effective distribution.
- Ensure cases that have been referred by the CFM, protection officers or other actors that need food or cash assistance are addressed accordingly.
- Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by supervisors.
Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse:
- Actively promote PSEA (Prevention of Sexual Exploitation and Abuse) standards within International Medical Corps and amongst beneficiaries served by International Medical Corps.
Compliance & Ethics:
- Promotes and encourages a culture of compliance and ethics throughout International Medical Corps. As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps’ and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards. Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.
Qualifications And Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Food Security or Agriculture, Social Science, Social Works related discipline and at least two years of professional experience in food and cash assistance interventions.
- Experience in northeast Nigeria is an added advantage
Required skills:
- Experience in community mobilization and sensitization
- Experience in food, cash and NFI distribution
- Good computer skills especially Word and Excel, access. Knowledge of other databases preferred.
- Good human relations and diplomacy.
- Possess a high analytical capacity.
- Demonstrate strategic thinking and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Fluent in English, Hausa and Kanuri.
- Capacity to work under stressful situations.
- Strong organizational and time management skills and capacity to coordinate work across multiple departments.
- Experience living in remote or isolated work stations, or insecure locations.
