Job Description

• We are seeking to fill the role of an Application Software Developer.
• The ideal role holder will be responsible for building software, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces.
• The primary responsibility of the role involves development of cutting-edge custom-applications that will allow the organisation stay ahead of the competition and achieve the strategic goals.
• The ideal role holder will also be involved in directing system testing and validation procedures, work on technical issues including software system design and maintenance.
• To be successful in this role, an extensive knowledge of programming languages and software development life cycle is required.

Responsibilities

• Designing and developing software systems using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and design consequences.
• Preparing reports on programming project specifications, activities, or status.
• Conferring with project managers to obtain information on limitations or capabilities.
• Modifying software to fix errors, adapt it to new hardware, improve its performance, or upgrade interfaces.
• Directing system testing and validation procedures.
• Directing software programming and documentation development.
• Working with clients or departments on technical issues including software system design and maintenance.
• Analysing information to recommend and plan the installation of new systems or modifications of an existing system.
• As part of the organisation’s information security requirements, maintain the security of all information entrusted and comply with the principles and policies in the information security handbook.
• Developing technical handbooks to represent the design and code of new applications.
• Understands and translate business requirements into technical specs as well as proffer effective solutions to solve business problems.
• Deliver assigned task and projects with little or no supervision and ensure completion of projects within the given time frame.
• Responsible for producing high-quality, front-end web code with an emphasis on efficiency, ease of maintenance and compatibility.
• Developing technical handbooks to represent the design and code of new applications.
• Preparing reports on programming project specifications, activities, or status.

Person Specification

• Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering or related discipline with cognate experience as a Software Developer / Software Engineer.
• Minimum of three (3) years of professional experience as a Software Developer, Software Engineer or a similar role in an operational environment.
• Knowledge of Software Development Process, Software Requirements, Software Design, Software Debugging, Software/System Documentation, Software Testing.
• Good knowledge of Programming languages and relational database.
• Analytical and problem solving skills and process-oriented approach to work.
• Collaborative, consultative and customer-oriented approach in an agile manner.
• Knowledge of coding languages (e.g. C#, Java, JavaScript) and frameworks/systems (e.g. React, AngularJS, Vue.js Node.js).
• Experience with databases and Object-Relational Mapping (ORM) frameworks.
• The desire to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Must be a full-stack developer and understand concepts of software engineering.
• Experience working on a variety of software development projects.
