We are recruiting to fill the position of:
Job Title: Electrical and HV Specialist
Location: Port Harcourt, Rivers
Contract type: Temporary Work Contract
Contractual Hours: Full Time
Contract Duration: 1 Year (Renewable)
Duties
- To lead technical teams and deliver client projects.
- To work on the electrical integration and application of hybrid and electric systems from prototype through to full series production on client hybrid and electric vehicle projects.
- To interface directly with clients on technical issues, often working as part of the client engineering team at the client site.
- To provide technical guidance for the development and application of complex hybrid and electric systems
- Liaise with suppliers/subcontractors to agree the specification of purchased components and delivery requirements for the project.
- To support lead engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems particularly relating to hybrid and electric systems for vehicle applications.
- Work to client quality procedures and validation processes
- Support the development of future products and services
- Support of the Sales Teams in the development of market opportunities through client interaction, proposal support and roadmap development .The successful applicant will have a sound automotive engineering background, a number of years of experience of successfully delivering projects in a controls and electronic environment either in an OEM or Tier 1 capacity having lead teams of engineers.
- Liaise with suppliers/subcontractors to agree the specification of purchased components and delivery requirements for the project.
- To support lead engineers in the development of electrical and electronic systems particularly relating to hybrid and electric systems for vehicle applications.
- Work to client quality procedures and validation processes
- Supervise, coach and support POWER PLANT Ex inspection strategy
- Act as focal point for specialist support contractors including setting key performance indicators. Ensure level of service meets required KPI’s, including safety.
- Act as single point of accountability or provide technical support for all plant modifications involving electrical systems. Ensure the requirements are clearly defined and do not undermine the operational integrity of existing plant equipment or systems.
- Act as, or delegate if practicable, electrical commissioning authority for all plant mods.
Health & Safety:
- Participates and adheres to plant safety (in order to maintain and injury-free environment), Operations and Administrative Programs and Procedures;
- Understands and support the ERP Procedures;
- Actively participates in the Job Hazard Analysis and ensures he/she complies with all Safety Procedures and applicable task-oriented job safety analyses;
- Participates in equipment and site clean-up on an ongoing basis;
- Responsible for upholding the administration and implementation of the site’s process and procedures.
Profile
Candidates must have the following:
- Required Disciplines: Engineering
- Required Course Of Study: Bachelor of Engineering
- Required Certificate: B.Sc. / B. Eng.
Job Requirements
- Minimum of Degree in an Engineering or Science related discipline (e.g. Electrical and Electronic Engineering / Mechanical Engineering / Physics / Computer Science / Software Engineering / Maths / Control Engineering)
- Senior Authorized Person at 66kv or above.
- A minimum of 6 years or more
- Good knowledge of hybrid and electric driveline architectures, components and systems integration.
- Good understanding of the operating principles of motors, inverters, power converters, battery chargers and battery systems
- Knowledge of designing high current and automotive high voltage (up to 1000V) power systems, (connectors, bus bars, cables, contactors & fusing)
- Experience of electrical component integration (up to 1000V), design & development on low volume or high volume products, particularly HV battery, propulsion systems and sub systems in a tier 1 or OEM environment
- Familiarity with functional safety concepts and industry tools such as DFMEA, FTA, Hazard Analysis
- Strong teamwork, organizational, oral communication, and written communication skills
- An understanding of project delivery within a systems engineering environment.
- Good interpersonal and customer facing skills
- Experience Hybrid and Electric vehicle driveline and associated subsystems with experience in the application of these systems in production projects.
Required Skill:
- A proven background of High Voltage Systems Component Development
- Responsible for the operation and maintenance of all electrical systems and equipment at POWER PLANT including HV/LV switchgear, transformers, UPS’s, generators, lighting and small power equipment.
- Preferably experience in design, commissioning, operation and maintenance of HV Power Systems in Oil/Gas or Power Utility Industries.
- Specific experience of 33kV/132kV GIS switchgear, MV/LV switchgear,
- Operation of transformers, high and medium voltage electrical switchgear, SCADA systems and preferably Gas Turbine Generators
- Good understanding of key aspects of operation and maintenance of power plant equipment.

- English (C-Professional working proficiency).
