Job Title: Educational ICT Specialist
Location: Ibeju, Lagos

Responsibilities
- Meets with Line manager and other members of the IT Team on a regular basis to assess needs and recommend suitable technology.
- Assists in the formulation, maintenance and integration of technology plans for the School.
- Provides workshops and training for teaching staff in educational technology skills and applications. Coordinates instructions to meet technology proficiency goals including training, lab sessions, and workshops regarding computer use.
- Assists in collaboration with the IT Support Team to troubleshoot hardware and software problems. Performs minor technical repairs.
- In collaboration with the IT Support Team, assists in maintaining the inventory of all hardware, software and electronic media.
- Assists teaching staff in computer labs and classrooms with curriculum lessons requiring the use of technology.
- Assists students in the computer labs, library and classrooms with applications as needed.
- Assists teaching staff in developing units, projects, or other educational technology applications within their curriculum.
- Assists and supports teaching staff in developing an effective technology-driven learning environment in their classrooms.
- Oversees the management and effective utilization of the Tablet Pilot programme newly introduced into the school.
- Maintains in collaboration with the IT Support Team and the School Webmaster the school’s web-based academic media tools, including the video archive, digital display boards, and digital bulletins.
- Be a consistent presence on campus in locations where technology is being integrated, especially during technology-integrated instruction and other technology-mediated activities.
- Implements differentiated instructional techniques for both teachers and learners.
- Collaborates on the successful integration of hardware, software and Internet resources, in support of student learning, and assist teachers in meeting common core standards for subject-area and technology-learning objectives.
- Assists to create learning resources for teachers, staff and students. These may include web sites, tutorials, instructional videos, interactive programmes, and databases that support teachers in integrating technology. Ideally, teachers will be guided and encouraged to develop their own resources, while the TIMS will continue to provide additional support as needed.
- Recommends software and related resources.
- Assists in planning and implementing a variety of extended opportunities for student learning.
- Identifies trends in software, curriculum, teaching strategies and other educational areas.
- Assesses from time to time the technology skill levels of students, teachers and other relevant staff.
- Develops in collaboration with the IT Support a group of students as an IT troubleshooting team.
- Collaborates with other Heads of Department to develop a curriculum tailored towards delivering the Online School to a targeted audience while partnering with relevant online platforms to facilitate this.
Qualifications
- A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or other related fields of study. Master’s Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in Education Technology will be an added advantage.
- Teaching experience in ICT, Data Processing and Computer Science.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the delivery of IGCSE ICT curriculum. IGCSE Assessment Specialist status will be an added advantage.
- At least six years of successful full-time experience as a classroom teacher and at least three years as Specialist in technology integration.
Technical Competences, Skills and Abilities:
- An understanding of TCP/IP networking and current knowledge of available and emerging technologies.
- Fairly good working knowledge of some programming languages like Oracle, Green foot, Scratch, PHP, Java, Python, SQL etc.
- An understanding of appropriate uses of technology in the educational setting.
- Competency with Windows computers and software, in particular Microsoft 365.
- Experience providing professional development for teachers or other adults in the integration of technology for instruction and productivity using all of the following modes: modeling, one-on-one, small group, or large group.
- Ability to design and deliver technology-enhanced instruction.
- An understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology integration.
- Familiarity with methods for integrating technology into the curriculum using relevant technological devices.
- Experience with effective technology teaching strategies in teaching software and hardware skills.
- Technology skills in up-to-date computer software, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, web page development, presentation, digital video and audio editing, image processing, and graphics applications and working knowledge of instructional design and assessment. A sound working knowledge of Microsoft 365 is very critical.
- Ability to listen to others and remain receptive to new ideas, and display excellent human relations and interpersonal skills.
- Address criticism in an appropriate manner and develop constructive outcomes.
- Demonstrate sustained effort and enthusiasm in the quality and quantity of work.
- Effectively educate/mentor technology users, to establish and maintain positive, effective working relationships with staff, students, and the community.
- Effective time management, organizational skills, and prioritization of work to meet the needs of the users.
- Ability to quickly acquire new knowledge regarding technology. And demonstrate initiative, flexibility, and the ability to work independently.
