We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Network Engineer

Location: Abuja (FCT)

Job Description

• Design, installation (include conduit and cabling), configuration, and testing of data networks, networking software, computer hardware, and operating system software;
• Handle network design and implementation for clients;
• Establishing and maintaining IT and digital communication infrastructure, including wireless or LAN networks;
• Establishing and maintaining digital communication software, including email, user logins and passwords; this includes setting up new employees with company email accounts and providing them with access to the network, as well as troubleshooting for existing employees;
• Perform troubleshooting to system failures and identify bottlenecks to ensure long term efficiency of network
• Inspect LAN infrastructure and fix minor or major problems/bugs
• Making sure that the networks are protected from malware and viruses, identifying areas that might be under threat and areas where security can be improved, keeping up to date on ever-changing cyber-threats;
• Installing and maintaining firewalls, establishing and maintaining company-wide access policies to the internet;
• Monitoring and Evaluation of network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made and find ways of improvement;
• Conferring with network users about solving existing system problems;
• Organize and schedule upgrades and maintenance without deterring others from completing their own work;
• Maintaining and administering computer networks and related computing environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations;
• Performing disaster recovery operations and data backups when required;
• Participate in Project Management activities on and off site;
• Provide technical direction to co-workers on computer and network usage and offer comprehensive advice and instructions;
• Document all network changes;
• Training new staff to operate within the company’s IT systems and ensuring that new staff are aware of company communication policies;
• Providing technical support and assistance to employees;
• Working with third-party providers to keep the networks running efficiently;
• Other tasks assigned by the line manager.

Job Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or Higher National Diploma in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering or relevant field;
• A minimum of 3 years proven experience as network technician or relevant position;
• CCENT/CCNA qualifications are strongly preferred;
• Experience using AutoCAD;
• Project Management skills are an added advantage;
• Outstanding diagnostic, problem-solving and analytical skills;
• Good communication skills;
• Good knowledge of LAN/WAN networks, TCP/IP protocols and network technologies;
• Hands-on experience with common software and hardware;
• CCNA qualifications are strongly preferred;
• Strong written and oral communications skills in English;
• Knowledge of structured cabling and VoIP.
