Main Purpose of Job
- The Security Administration & Liaison Officer (SALO) will fulfil an important role within the British High Commission’s Northern Nigeria Threat Analysis & Travel Team (NNTATT).
- They will be involved in all phases of official travel for all BHC colleagues, to areas where British Government advises against travel or limited travel. The existing NNTATT security framework includes the administrative and actual preparation of travelers, the deployment of the travelers and post deployment activities.
- The SALO under the guidance of his line-manager, the Security Liaison Officer (SLO), will build on and maintain strong contacts within key Host State government authorities and other key partner entities (INGOs, UN, and Private Security Providers). This will involve the highest level of diplomacy and liaison with the various stakeholders on a varied range of security issues. This will involve frequent trips to the region to conduct liaison and fact finding activities and accompanying travelers on their journeys as the security subject matter expert (SME).
- The SALO will be responsible for all protective equipment, auditing, inspecting and maintaining.
- As stated above the SALO will routinely undertake other roles to enable the services provided to BHC and visiting staff by NNTATT. This will include conducting risk assessments, reviewing travel requests, briefing travelers and senior managers.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Providing support in the first instance to the SLO
- Maintaining and auditing all protective security equipment
- Providing routine support to the NNTATT as directed, especially in the area of Travel Risks Assessment (this is a key legal element of our duty of care to take reasonable measures to protect staff from reasonably foreseeable harm)
- Assist the team in the assessing and analysing of vulnerabilities and risk to the regions travelled to;
- Plan and prepare to minimise threats, vulnerabilities and risks to traveling staff;
- Liaise and communicate with travellers and others on all subjects relevant to the trip;
- Ensure and maintain secure environments for travellers and staff working permanently in expeditionary areas.
- Provide security related advice to deployed staff;
- Manage financial related aspects of deployments with relevant security stakeholders.
Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience
- Proven security related liaison experience
- Experience of working in the North or/and the North-East of Nigeria
- Experience of producing reports
- Evidence of working in a security role without direct supervision in a fragile environment
- Able to display sound judgement and common sense when given a task, or being asked for advice
- Good communications skills
- Fluent in English language ( Excellent written and oral).
Desirable Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Knowledge of regional languages
- Knowledge of Standard Physical Security
- Previous working with Nigerian military or / and police
- Previous working with INGOs or UN in Nigeria
- Knowledge of dealing with service providers and stakeholders
- Higher Education obtained (resulting in the award of an academic degree).

Salary
N573,296 monthly.
