Job Title: Data Scientist

Job Summary
- We are looking to hire a Data Scientist. This is a role where you will report directly to the Senior Manager.
- In this role, you will work on diverse projects that will involve extracting data from multiple sources, using machine learning tools to organize data, process, clean and validate the data, analyze the data for information and patterns, develop predictions systems, present the data in a clear manner and propose solutions and strategies to improve operations in Altara.
Main Responsibilities
- Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of valuable data sources and data gathering techniques.
- Develop processes and tools to monitor and analyze performance and data accuracy.
- Analyze large amounts of information and data to discover trends and patterns, and interpret data with a clear objective in mind.
- Coordinate with different functional teams to build and implement models to address business problems and monitor outcomes.
- Build predictive models and machine-learning algorithms.
- Present information using visualization techniques.
- Devising strategic initiatives using technology to improve the current operations.
- Collaborate with engineers and product development teams.
- Communicate analytic solutions to stakeholders and implement improvements as needed to operational systems.
- Analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business processes.
- Any other task that may be assigned by Team Lead.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or relevant field (Graduate Degree in Data Science or other quantitative field is preferred).
- 4 years of experience in a Technical or Product role or Data Scientist role.
- Extensive knowledge of R, SQL and Python, familiarity with Scala, Java or C++ is an asset.
- Experience using business intelligence tools (e.g. Tableau) and data frameworks (e.g. Hadoop).
- Experience in data mining and a passion for machine-learning and operations research.
- Great analytical mind and business acumen.
- Critical thinking and problem-solving skills are essential for interpreting data with strong math skills (e.g statistics, algebra).
- Excellent written, interpersonal, communication and presentation skills.
- Commitment to achieving performance goals.
- Great at time management, multitasking and prioritization skills.
Salary
N120,000 – N144,000 monthly
