Project Coordinator at the Centre for Social Cohesion, Peace and Empowerment (CENSCOPE) – Adamawa & Borno

The Centre for Social Cohesion, Peace and Empowerment (CENSCOPE) is a non-profit organization that focuses on promoting the ideals of self-sustainability, equality and social justice to the members of the society, it was founded in the year 2014 out of the need to give succor and support to the victim of arm conflict and natural disasters in Nigeria.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Project Coordinator

Locations: Adamawa and Borno
Job Type: Full Time

Job Summary

  • The Project Coordinator will be present and work in our Head office in Maiduguri, overseeing Technical consultants and Project officers so as to ensure that all projects are delivered in accordance with our SOP and within an efficient operational framework and identify and recommend specific courses of action that facilitate projects to deliver on their intended goals and outcome.
  • This position is a project based full-time.
  • The Project Coordinator will also assist in attending strategic meetings and documenting expected outcomes and is expected to support the project team to implement the Victim Assistance program activities.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely and effective implementation of the project’s objectives and oversight of project-related activities.
  • Deliver results in accordance with the project’s document, project implementation plan and work plans of CENSCOPE, communication plan, and result log-frame.
  • Ensures timely preparation of project work plans, procurement, and communications plans as well as other related documents for the timely commencement of the project activities. Develops a detailed implementation plan, and oversees the progress of the project.
  • Plan, coordinate and supervise the work of all project staff including preparation of the required terms of reference for consultants, national experts, forward planning of Project activities and budget expenditures, activity scheduling, and reporting.
  • Prepares comprehensive, outcome and output-oriented, evidence-based inputs to progress reports as well as ad-hoc technical reports, when required.
  • Perform other tasks as requested by the CENSCOPE management.
  • Develop a professional platform for networking and partnership building with local authorities of the target regions, CSOs, youth centers and organizations, and other international development organizations or programs working in the area of operation.
  • Ensure visibility of CENSCOPE and joint projects through public relations, advocacy, working with the mass media, and other communications activities.
  • Knowledge-building and knowledge-sharing.
  • Promotes project knowledge products, identification, and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned for organizational sharing, learning, and planning future strategies;
  • Provides support to effective advocacy of project activities.
  • Promotes a knowledge-sharing and learning culture in the educational program and community outreach.

Requirements

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Counselling, Education, Development Studies or relevant equivalent disciplines
  • Knowledge of Victims Assistance norms, principles, and activities
  • Ability to work independently and work with a team;
  • Ability to work under pressure
  • Good organizing skills and interpersonal skills
  • Strong facilitation skills, and familiarity with training-of-trainer (ToT) approaches and methodologies.

Keys skills:

  • Demonstrate competency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Excellent presentation and writing skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Fluency in the English Language both written and spoken is required, Hausa and Kanuri languages  .

Qualities:

  • Adherence to CENSCOPE values and abiding by the code of conduct and other policies are core.
  • Proficient command of the English language (written and oral).
  • Knowledge of the local Nigerian Language is desired
  • Proven work experience in multicultural and stressful environments.
  • Ability to adapt to working conditions and tasks that may change with the reality of the field.
