Job Title: Manager, Human Resources and Planning
Location: Yola, Adamawa
Job Description
- The Human Resources Manager reports to the Deputy Director HR & Planning and will be charged with the responsibility of overseeing HR functions such as recruitment, discipline, grievance, training and development, performance management, benefits administration. and data processing functions for staff of the university to make sure they are in line with the University’s standards and procedures as expressly stated in the Policy Manual.
- The incumbent will serve as the initial contact for the HR office, and provide assistance to faculty and staff, with regards their human resources related needs in accordance with established policies and procedures of the American University of Nigeria.
- The Manager HR & Planning supervises, develops and implements training and professional development courses for employees.
- S/he develops HR planning strategies with Line Managers, which consider immediate and long-term staffing and requirements in terms of numbers, skill levels and retention methods
- Supervises and coordinates AUN personnel and administrative activities and routines; Supervises and coordinates the daily activities of personnel functions which involve promotions, staff training, professional development, recruiting, employment, compensation and benefits, general administration, reprimands, professional counseling
- Prepares a Human Resource information system, and constantly upgrades the database for making appropriate projections and forecasts to meet manpower demand and supply.
Requirements
- A Bachelor’s Degree in a related field from a recognized tertiary institution with at least five years’ relevant experience. A Master’s degree in Human Resource Planning and Development is preferable.
- Considerate knowledge of cross-cultural management, specialized principles and practices of public personnel administration, including selection, classification, and compensation,
- Considerable knowledge and characteristics of major occupational groups,
- Ability to present facts and recommendations effectively in oral and written form, also ability to exercise sound judgment in arriving at conclusions, and
- Ability to make effective and persuasive speeches and presentations on controversial or complex topics to top management.
