Job Title: Store Officer
Location: Lagos
Job Summary
- The Store Officer is responsible for managing the organization’s inventory and overseeing the efficient operation of the storeroom or warehouse.
- The primary objective is to ensure proper stock management, timely issuance of materials, and accurate record-keeping to support the smooth functioning of the organization.
Duties and Responsibilities
Inventory Management:
- Maintain accurate records of all incoming and outgoing materials.
- Regularly update inventory databases and software systems.
- Monitor stock levels and reorder materials when necessary to avoid shortages.
- Implement inventory control measures to reduce waste and minimize stock losses.
- Conduct regular stock audits to reconcile physical stock with records.
Receiving and Inspection:
- Receive incoming shipments and verify the quantity and quality of items received.
- Inspect and check for damages or discrepancies in delivered goods.
- Collaborate with suppliers and internal teams to resolve any issues related to deliveries.
Issuance and Distribution:
- Fulfill internal requisitions and issue materials to different departments.
- Ensure proper documentation of material issuance and maintain accurate records.
- Monitor consumption patterns and advise on optimal stock levels for different items.
Storage and Organization:
- Arrange materials in designated storage areas in an organized and accessible manner.
- Follow proper stacking and labeling procedures to facilitate easy retrieval.
- Ensure compliance with safety regulations for handling hazardous materials, if applicable.
Vendor Management:
- Maintain good relationships with suppliers and negotiate favorable terms for procurement.
- Source new suppliers and conduct periodic vendor assessments for quality and reliability.
Reporting and Analysis:
- Prepare regular reports on inventory levels, consumption trends, and stock movement.
- Analyze data to identify areas for improvement and cost-saving opportunities.
- Provide reports to management for decision-making and strategic planning.
Team Coordination:
- Collaborate with various departments to understand their material needs and provide support.
- Coordinate with purchasing, finance, and other teams to ensure smooth material flow.
Compliance:
- Ensure compliance with company policies and procedures related to store operations.
- Adhere to health and safety guidelines in handling materials and maintaining the store.
Qualifications and Requirements
- OND or equivalent; additional education or certifications in Inventory Management or related fields is a plus.
- Proven experience as a Store Officer or similar role in inventory management.
- Proficient in using inventory management software and computer skills.
- Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
- Attention to detail and accuracy in record-keeping.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills for vendor and team coordination.
- Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks efficiently.
Salary
N50,000 – N60,000 Monthly.
