We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Utilities Engineer

Project: Rehabilitation & Revamping of Port Harcourt Refinery
Hours / Rotation: Monday to Saturday; No Rotation

Job Summary / Role Description

  • He cooperates with commissioning group during the latest phase of construction and the commissioning phases as per project requirements.
  • He operates in compliance with the quality requirements, health/environmental/ safety regulations and following the stated procedures.
  • He reports hierarchically to the Commissioning Manager or, in complex organizations, to the Commissioning Superintendent.
  • As part of Utilities Department (AUSI) he functionally reports to Project Discipline Leader and to AUSI Head of Department.
  • He is assigned to the Project by AUSI Head of Department in agreement with Commissioning Head of Department.

Duties and Responsibilities
His main responsibilities are:

  • Assistance during construction, pre-commissioning and commissioning phase.
  • To assist and advice the Commissioning Manager and the commissioning team in trouble shooting the process problems related to the project;
  • To assist and advice the Commissioning Team in the finalization of precommissioning and commissioning procedures;
  • To assist and advice the Commissioning Team in the finalization of utilities, feed stocks and products consumption schedule for precommissioning and commissioning;
  • To verify or provide the procedure for the initial filling of catalysts, chemicals, resins and feed stocks to the equipment and coordinate the a.m. activities;
  • To participate to the equipment internal inspection or verification;
  • To participate in the check of the functionality of interlocks, logic and sequence and ensure that they are in line with process requirements as detailed in the narrative;
  • When requested from the Commissioning Manager to follow the operations in field;
  • Attend the Pre Start Up HSSE survey;
  • Attend the start-up of the machines, packages by supporting the activities and approving temporary modifications to interlock or complex loop as necessary;
  • Verify the operating conditions and, in case of need, provide temporary plant modification to allow machines or packaged units operation;
  • Assist and verify the machine or Vendor packaged unit performance test to ensure compliance with the Process requirement (guaranteed performance);
  • Verify the Vendor performance test final report and advice Vendor Coordinator (CVC) or Commissioning Manager regarding completeness or exceptions / clarifications relevant to performed test.

Person Specification
Knowledge & Qualifications:

  • University Degree or equivalent Study background.

Experience:

  • Management experience for an EPC company in for, at least, two plants as  Utilies Engineer
  • Plants for the gas treatment.

Skills and Abilities:

  • Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail, management skills
  • Team-oriented skills,  self-motivation and direction, with strong bias toward timely performance and problem resolution.
