Job Title: Adjunct Faculty – Communications
Location: Lagos
Role Overview
- We invite applications from highly qualified and dedicated individuals to join our faculty as Adjunct Faculty in Communications. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching undergraduate courses in communication studies, providing mentorship to students, and contributing to curriculum development in line with the university’s objectives. This position is part-time and offers flexibility in scheduling.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Course development and instruction:
- Teach undergraduate courses in communication studies, such as mass communication, public relations, media ethics, interpersonal communication, and digital media.
- Develop course syllabi, lesson plans, and instructional materials that align with the university’s curriculum and learning outcomes.
- Deliver engaging lectures, facilitate classroom discussions, and provide practical hands- on learning experiences.
Mentorship and Student Evaluation:
- Evaluate student performance through assignments, examinations, and project-based assessments.
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and academic support to students to promote their personal and professional growth.
Research and Departmental Duties
- Collaborate with other faculty members to contribute to curriculum development, program assessment, and accreditation processes.
- Stay updated with current industry trends, emerging technologies, and research in the field of communication studies.
- Participate in departmental meetings, faculty development activities, and university committees as required.
- Maintain regular office hours to assist students with academic inquiries and provide feedback on assignments.
Preferred Candidate
- A minimum of a Master’s Degree in Communications or a related field is required.
- A doctoral Degree is preferred.
- Demonstrated expertise and professional experience in the field of communications.
- Previous teaching experience at the university level is highly desirable.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with students, colleagues, and industry professionals.
- Proficiency in using relevant technology and software for instructional purposes.
- Commitment to promoting diversity, inclusivity, and cultural sensitivity in the classroom.
- Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and manage multiple responsibilities.
- Research experience and a record of scholarly publications would be an advantage.
