What’s the Role?

  • Manage the security of Greater Warri (GWA) and environs including Ogunu Supply base. Plan, schedule and execute all security escorts activities (land & Marine) in accordance with approved procedures and HSSE standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement within Security Logistics ensuring vehicle safety and personnel competencies are maintained. Ensure a seamless way of working and collaboration between Warri Security Logistics, PHC Security Operation Centre (SOC) and the Ogunu Control Room to deliver safe, efficient security escorts (land and Marine) services.
  • Manage Ogunu Supply Base security in accordance with Corporate Security’s Management System (Security Risk Assessment (SRA), Facility Security Plan (FSP), Line of Defence (LoD) assurance checks, etc)
  • Liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure continuity of escort services and Ogunu Supply Base Security.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Maintain detailed knowledge and understanding of SPDC daily activities/operations in relation to the changing threat picture.
  • Daily liaison with SPY Police and Government Security Agencies (GSAs) involved with Security Logistics operations ensuring activities are executed in line with approved procedures (Escort SOPs) and SOLs.
  • Daily liaison with GSAs, SPY Police, etc) guarding Ogunu Supply Base
  • Review and update Ogunu Supply Base’s FSP, SRA and conduct daily operational checks and LoD1 Assurance checks.
  • Develop Ogunu Control Room capability and capacity to monitor and manage land and marine movements in the Western Hub
  • Plan, resource and execute all inland waterway movements originating from Ogunu
  • Ensure all Security Escorts carry push-to-talk radios (tetra) capable of communicating to the Warri Control Room
  • Ensure all inland waterway movements carry Tetra radio to enable SOC tracking.
  • Ensure all GSA providing inland MPV escorts are briefed on the MPV SOPs before departure helping reduce MPV fire risk.
  • Ensuring a system of daily vehicle first parade checks is maintained.
  • Maintain a monthly Vehicle utilization tracker
  • Operationalizing the Security Escort SOPs through running Security Escort Induction program
  • Maintain monthly performance dashboard capturing KPI data for review and analysis to drive improvement.
  • Conduct Security Risk Assessments (SRA) for land transport in the Niger Delta in accordance with agreed schedule.
  • Manage HSE issues in security logistics and act as focal point for journey management in security operations.
  • Conduct quarterly engagements with third party vehicle provides to help maintain and drive safety and performance.
  • Investigate all security incidents involving Warri land and marine movements ensuring gaps are identified and closed and lessons learnt
  • Provide security awareness briefings for staff as requested
  • Prepare and Manage Security Logistics annual budget
  • Continuously driving the safety-first mindset amongst staff, contractors, and GSAs.
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of the security dynamics across the Niger Delta (land and inland).
  • Manage relationships with internal and external stakeholders (GSA, police, SPY, Logistics, etc) to ensure standards and procedures are adhered to.
  • The optimization of limited resources to support ever growing business needs in the light of budgetary constraints.
  • Driving attitudinal change amongst staff and embedding security awareness through regular engagements and briefings

What we need from you?

  • At least a Bachelor’s Degree from a recognized institution. Post graduate qualification in relevant fields will be an advantage.
  • Professional industrial security certification (PSP and/or CPP, PCI) from ASIS or equivalent body)
  • Expert knowledge of the security situation in the Niger Delta
  • At least 5 years of relevant security experience.
  • Strong program management, analytics, planning, communication and writing skills. Ability to work across teams and collaborate with others to deliver result
  • Demonstrable leadership skills and experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Ability to manage and drive cost reduction: drive creativity and innovation.
  • Good computing skills and experience with managing data, creating and managing simple database and general use of spreadsheet for activity planning. Experience with SharePoint and use of Excel may be an advantage.
