Job Title: Senior Associate – Adolescent and Young person (AYP)

Job Description

  • The Senior Associate – Adolescent and Young People will support the AYP Officer to design and implementation of the AYP activities and ensure dissemination of gender transformative information to key stakeholders in the implementing state.
  • Will assist in strengthening the provision of GBV prevention and management services, HIV Stigma & Reduction activities, Health Equity, and support the target group in health ownership and responsibility.
  • Will assist in providing technical guidance in the development and implementation of activities that facilitate linkages and referrals linkage between and within communities and health facilities and work closely with the IMSAFER (NMW) Activity instructors.
  • Will assist in designing strategies that will ensure that the needs of Adolescent & Young People are adequately addressed and enhance their access to a range of key services that include Access to ARV, VL sample collection, family Planning/ Reproductive Health information/services, post GBV care services.
  • Will contribute to program development and management by collecting and analyzing data on Adolescents and Young People and monitoring implementation progress.
  • Will assist in ensuring that programs work towards ensuring adolescent empowerment through development of life skills and creating opportunities for social and civic engagement.
  • Support development/adaptation of technical tools in consultation/collaboration with the relevant program staff and other key stakeholders at all stages of the project implementation.
  • Ensure that programs focus on and provide formal and non-formal learning opportunities for adolescent girls and boys that build the skills and knowledge required for employability and entrepreneurship and promote programs and approaches nurturing adolescents as innovators and critical thinkers.
  • S/He will facilitate the implementation of the adolescent safe space model which will use a small group approach to reach adolescents aged 10-19 with age- segmented content with a primary focus on 10-14.
  • Facilitates the activities of the Adolescent and Young peoples in area of OVC preventive program at the AYP Hub
  • Provide technical support and build capacity of program teams, supported health facility teams, CSOs/CBOs, and other partners in integrating providing care and support services to the AYP.
  • Provide technical guidance during the development of program annual work plan and participates in the planning and budgeting activities.
  • Support management of project finances and other resources related to implementation of activities in the assigned state in line with the project’s finance guidelines.
  • Design and/or adapt communication strategies that target Adolescents Young People to create behavior change in the community.
  • Develop plans for promoting risk reduction and health-seeking behaviors among Adolescents & Young People
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Minimum Recruitment Standard

  • A University Degree in one of the following fields is required: Social Science, Public Health, Development Studies, Public Policy, Human Rights, Anthropology, Psychology, Sociology, Education, Communication, or another relevant Technical field.
  • A minimum of three years of professional experience in development planning and management of adolescent programming and young people’s participation or related areas is required.
  • Relevant experience in an INGO and Local NGO is considered as an asset.
  • Fluency in English is required.
  • Skills using MS Excel, MS Access, highly desirable.
  • Strong data management and analysis skills.
  • Experience in dealing with difficult and sensitive situations in a professional manner.
