Bingham University located in Karu, 25 kilometers from the Federal Capital city of Nigeria Abuja, was established in 2005 by the Evangelical Church Winning All (ECWA) as a Conventional University. It is one of the six private universities in the north and the only one established by a Christian organization.
The main purpose of ECWA was to meet the daring need for high-quality Secular Education which recognizes and integrates the moral and spiritual values on which the Christian faith is founded as well as focuses on entrepreneurial studies in order to promote self-reliance among graduates of the University.
The Governing Council of the University invites applications from suitably qualified Internal and External candidates to fill the position below, which would become vacant from 8th January, 2024:

Job Description
- The Vice-Chancellor of the University must be a person with a clear vision for the further development of the university as well as readiness to implement the Vision of the university.
- He is expected to be morally and spiritually sound, of impeccable character, high integrity, free from financial embarrassment, and enjoy good physical and mental health.
- He or she is to be a person who would promote unity among staff, and students of the University, alumni, and the host communities.
- He should possess the skills that are required in a 21st century university, including having the acumen with proven and demonstrable ability to attract, and mobilize research and development grants, extra-statutory funds, and other resources for the development and financial sustainability of the university.
Duties
- The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive and Academic Head of the University.
- He/she is the chief exponent of the educational Mission of the University, the philosophy that undergirds this mission, goals sought, and quality of performance that is required to attain these goals.
- The Vice-Chancellor has specified authority to maintain the efficiency and good order of the University.
- All the other offices of the administration are responsible to him/her.
- He/she is the Chairman of the Senate and is responsible for maintaining and promoting the efficiency and good order of the University.
Qualifications
- A prospective candidate for the Vice-Chancellor position must be a Professor for not less than 4 years and is expected to have rendered continuous service for a minimum of 10 years in the University System and is expected to have held sufficiently senior academic leadership/administrative positions.
- Candidates are expected to be widely knowledgeable and have understanding of the regulatory landscape and legal framework about the operations of the University system, and should be well published nationally and internationally.
- Besides, the Vice- Chancellor should have broad-based knowledge beyond his primary area of specialization.
Conditions of Service
- The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for a non-renewal term of five years.
- The remuneration and conditions of service are comparable to those of Vice-Chancellors in the Nigerian University system, and as may be determined by the Council and Proprietor from time to time.
- Candidates who would be above 65 years by 8th January, 2024 need not apply.
