Job Description
- A secondary school economics tutor facilitates engaging lessons, imparts fundamental economic concepts, and supports students in grasping theories and applying them to real-world scenarios.
Responsibilities
- Teaching: Instructing students on economic theories, principles, and concepts in an understandable and engaging manner.
- Lesson Planning: Creating lesson plans and educational materials to facilitate effective learning experiences.
- Individualized Support: Providing personalized assistance and guidance to students based on their learning needs and abilities.
- Assessment and Feedback: Designing assessments, grading assignments, and offering constructive feedback to aid in students’ academic progress.
- Application of Knowledge: Encouraging the application of economic theories to real-world scenarios, fostering practical understanding.
- Monitoring Progress: Tracking students’ progress, identifying areas of improvement, and implementing strategies for academic growth.
- Staying Updated: Keeping abreast of developments in the field of economics to enhance teaching methodologies and content relevance.
- Communication: Maintaining effective communication with students, parents, and colleagues regarding student performance and challenges.
Education / Experience
- B.Ed in Economics and Other Relevant Certification.
- Firm understanding and practical experience of the Cambridge Curriculum
- Minimum of Eight years experience.
Required Skills:
- Expertise in Economics: A strong understanding of economic theories, principles, and concepts relevant to the secondary school curriculum.
- Effective Communication: The ability to explain complex economic concepts in a clear, concise, and understandable manner suitable for secondary school students.
- Adaptability: Being flexible and adaptable in teaching methods to accommodate various learning styles and pace of students.
- Patience and Empathy: Demonstrating patience while addressing students’ questions and concerns, and being empathetic towards their learning challenges.
- Critical Thinking: Encouraging students to think critically, analyze economic problems, and apply theories to real-world situations.
- Engagement and Motivation: Employing interactive teaching methods, activities, and relevant examples to keep students engaged and motivated in learning economics.
- Assessment and Evaluation: Designing assessments, evaluating students’ understanding, and providing constructive feedback to support their academic growth.
- Organizational Skills: Planning and organizing lessons effectively, managing time, and creating a structured learning environment.
- Continual Learning: Staying updated with the latest developments in economics and education to enhance teaching methods and content.
- Interpersonal Skills: Building a positive and supportive relationship with students, fostering a conducive learning atmosphere within the classroom.
