Machinist at Egbin Power Plc

Egbin Power Plc Lagos is one of the biggest additions to the electricity industry in Nigeria. Often seen as the biggest single generating power station in Sub-Saharan Africa, it was built to meet the every rising demand for electricity in Lagos and its environs.

Following the nation’s privatization exercise, Sahara, through its power division, Sahara Power Group and sundry affiliations, acquired the 1320 MW installed capacity Egbin Power Plant. We are working towards deploying a minimum of 5,000 MW of electricity generation over the next five years.

We are recruiting to fill the position below:

 

Job Title: Machinist

Job Identification: 200
Location: Ikorodu, Lagos
Job Category: Non-Technical
Job Schedule: Full time

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Setting up and operating all the machines to produce precision parts
  • Performs and documents quality checks during machining operation
  • Interpret drawings and sketches for the production of required parts
  • Taking all appropriate measurements and ensuring parts being produced meet specification
  • Assists in monitoring and servicing plant equipment and systems including boilers and turbines
  • Performs maintenance on equipment systems and handles emergency repairs

Educational Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Minimum of Trade Test Certificate or its equivalent
  • Welding and Fabrication certification or its equivalent
  • Minimum of three (3) years of machining work experience

Skills and Competencies:

  • Good technical knowledge of tools and equipment required or needed to perform a job
  • Ability to set up and operate a variety of machines to produce precision parts
  • Ability to fabricate and modify parts required for plant use
  • Ability to control, and watch gauges, dials and other indicators to make sure that a machine is working properly.
  • Knowledge of standard operating procedures for fabrication and repair
  • Knowledge of safety requirements and environmental aspect
  • Technical Troubleshooting to determine causes of error(s) on a machine
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards and safety precautions of the work
  • Knowledge of the power generation process.
