The Jigawa State College of Education was established in April, 1976 as Advanced Teachers College Gumel. However, with the creation of Jigawa State in August, 1991, it was converted to Jigawa State College of Education on 24th December, 1991. The edict establishing the College was promulgated in 1992.
In accordance with the provision of the College (Law Establishing the College) Law No. 14 of 2012 as amended, the Governing Council of the College invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the position below:

Job Description
- The Bursar shall be the Chief Accounting Officer of the College and be responsible to the Provost for the day to day administration and control of the Financial Affairs of the College.
- He/She shall advise the Provost on finance-related matters, coordinate the development and update the College financial management plans, coordinate the preparation of periodic income and expenditure statements, balance sheet, cash flow estimate and consolidated, when necessary.
- He/She shall ensure that accurate records are maintained of all assets and liabilities held by the College.
- The duties shall include monitoring monthly income and expenditure and balance sheet variances against the budgets, and ensure that they are reconciled; monitoring treasury activities including cash flow projections and forecast for prudence and accountability; negotiating with financial and government institutions with regard to financial matters.
Requirements for the Candidate
- The candidate for the post of Bursar must possess a minimum of First Degree in Accounting and Finance not below second class lower division or any related discipline with at least fifteen (15) years of cognate experience in the institution of higher learning.
- The applicant must possess any of the following professionally recognized accountancy qualifications; ANAN, ACA, CIMA, CPA, ACCA, ICAN.
The candidate is also expected to possess the following:
- Be not below the rank of Deputy Bursar on CONTIDESS 14, who spent at least three (3) years on the post.
- Exhibit the ability to be a team leader, who can lead by example, has clear mentorship skills and should not be older than fifty five (55) years of age upon appointment.
- Enjoy strong physical and mental health.
- Be computer literate.
- Have a good working knowledge of contemporary financial management, principles, processes and practices.
Terms and Conditions of Service Applicable to the Post
- The Bursar will normally be appointed for a period of four years in the first instance and shall be eligible for re-appointment for a final term of four years only subject to satisfactory performance.
- The remuneration and other conditions of service are as applicable to the post of Bursar in all Colleges of Education in Nigeria and may be determined from time to time by the State Government / Governing Council of the College.
