Job Description

  • As an LM6000 I&C Controls Engineer at Prismecs, you will play a crucial role in the day-to-day operation of plant facilities and equipment.
  • The I&C Controls Engineer is responsible for ensuring the control, electrical and instrumentation requirement of equipment inside the power plant to meet statutory requirements and function properly.
  • Will carry out with performance, commissioning and execution for the string test, test bench preparation and test bench disassembly, functional test, loop check,  test execution, trouble shooting and prompt non-conformity resolution maintaining connection with other technicians and software calibration.
  • The I&C Controls Engineer will report with the Plant Manager or the Team leader in charge.

Responsibilities

  • Performing diverse technical tasks onsite and possessing extensive expertise in turbine control systems, including Woodward Micronet, Micronet +, Atlas, Mark V, Mark VI, Mark VIe, Mark VIeS, and Bently Nevada 3500. Proficient in configuring HMI using Wonderware, Cimplicity, and iFix.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environment regulations in the power generation plant industry.
  • Collaborate with HSE and adhere to directives and guidelines.
  • Execute preventive and corrective works and maintenance in facilities and equipment according to OEM manuals, best industry practices, and guidance from the Plant Manager.
  • Maintain high personal standards, reporting and repairing sub-standard performance and equipment installations.
  • Update the maintenance history of plant facilities and equipment in logbooks, reports, and digital files.
  • Ensure all projects meet technical requirements from a control, electrical, and instrumentation perspective.
  • Report on project engineering technical scope performance against OEM standards.
  • Identify engineering deliverables and assist in O&M based on the agreed scope.
  • Provide control, electrical, and instrumentation engineering support to the Plant Manager for contractual availability and power output.
  • Review and approve 3rd party control and instrumentation engineering content.
  • Ensure agreement with Plant Manager on any engineering scope changes.
  • Coordinate with the Plant Manager for maintenance activities, approvals, and interventions to minimize impact on plant availability.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide training to operations personnel.
  • Address emergencies resulting from equipment failures promptly.
  • Propose lists of essential parts, consumables, tools, and materials.
  • Collaborate with Plant Manager for inventory audits and material availability.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and provide relevant information.
  • Operate SCADA, Protection, and Control Systems during the control room shift.
  • Execute preventive routine inspections and ensure accurate daily reporting.
  • Support other activities assigned by the Shift Supervisor.
  • Contribute to team efforts and support other plant areas to achieve operational goals.
  • Work in a multicultural and multidisciplinary environment with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

  • Honors Degree or higher in Control, Electrical, and Instrumentation Engineering.
  • Proficient in English, Spanish or French (reading, writing, and speaking)
  • Minimum of 5 years experience in design, commissioning, qualification, and technical support.
  • Experience with Woodward Micronet, Micronet +, Atlas, Mark V, Mark VI, Mark VIe, Mark VIeS, and Bently Nevada 3500. Proficient in configuring HMI using Wonderware, Cimplicity, and iFix.
  • Knowledgeable with ABB, ComAp, DEIF controls.
  • Experience with Power System modeling packages (SKM, ETAP, EazyPower, CYME).
  • Familiarity with engineering standards (CSA, NEC, NESC, IEEE, ANSI).
  • 3 years of work experience in power generation plants (TM2500 or LM6000 or PGT25).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Industrial communication, protection systems, predictive, proactive maintenance practices, and CMMS system knowledge.
  • Basic knowledge of HSE, ISO 9001, ISO 14000, and OHSAS 18001.
