Job Description

  • We are currently seeking a highly experienced and knowledgeable Head of HSE to join our team.
  • As the Head of HSE, you will be responsible for developing and implementing health, safety, and environmental programs and policies to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and promote a safe working environment throughout the company.

Job Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement health, safety, and environmental policies and procedures in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
  • Manage and oversee all aspects of the company’s health, safety, and environmental programs, including risk assessments, inspections, incident investigations, safety pep talks, and training for drivers to reduce accidents, as well as occupational health activities.
  • Ensuring compliance with state and federal regulations regarding transportation and workplace safety.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of health, safety, and environmental programs and recommend improvements as necessary.
  • Provide guidance and support to management and employees on general health, safety, and environmental matters.
  • Conduct regular audits and inspections to identify hazards and ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to raise awareness and promote a culture of safety and environmental responsibility.
  • Overseeing and implementing the elements of Logistics Crash Management process including coordination of reporting, investigation, documentation, and management of incidents.
  • Ensure accountability for preventable of trucks accidents.
  • Produce a comprehensive and accurate monthly report with relevant metrics for management review.
  • Develop monthly scorecards that encompass national tactics and activities.
  • Create training materials and conduct sessions for drivers to implement the Transportation Safety Management System (TSMS).
  • Ensure compliance of periodic DCT drug and alcohol program with regulatory requirements on truck drivers
  • Keep up to date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices to ensure continued compliance and improvement of health, safety, and environmental programs.
  • Collaborate with other departments to integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into all aspects of the company’s operations.

Qualifications and Work Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree or its equivalent in any Environmental Science / Engineering / or a related field.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a similar HSE role within the logistics or transportation industry, particularly involving trucks and drivers.
  • Professional qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, IRCA ISO45001:2018) is an added advantage

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and best practices.
  • Demonstrated experience in Transport Management and implementing health, safety, and environmental policies and programs.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with all levels of employees.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Knowledge of ISO standards and management systems.
  • Good knowledge/ experience in Hazard Identification and Risk Assessment and Control.
  • In-depth knowledge of Fire Safety Management.
  • Good understanding of the PTW system and RCA.
