Lagos State Offers Automatic Employment to 100 Best Corper

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State, on Tuesday, attended the passing-out parade of the Youth Corps members serving in the state, promising automatic employment for 100 corps members with the most outstanding performance during the service year. The governor also approved the sum of N5bn for the construction of a new permanent Orientation Camp for the National Youth Service Corps in the state.

Sanwo-Olu, at the event, announced that each of the outgoing  2024 Batch ‘B’ Stream I corps members would get an N100,000 cash gift.

Speaking at the NYSC Orientation Camp, Iyana Ipaja, Sanwo-Olu said, “We are always committed to supporting our youth, and I am happy to announce a sum of N5bn allocated for the construction of a new permanent site for the Lagos NYSC camp.

“In recognition of the dedication and hard work of our Youth Corps members, each corper passing out today will receive N100,000. This token of appreciation is in recognition of their invaluable contributions to the development of Lagos over the past year, bringing their expertise from all over Nigeria to serve in various capacities.

“We are also introducing a new initiative to reward excellence. The best 100 corpers after their service year will receive automatic employment into the Lagos Public Service.”

Sanwo-Olu said the move was the government’s way of recognising and nurturing the talents that would “lead us into the future.”

The state government also provided a 32-seater Hyundai bus to enhance transportation for the corps members.

“This is just the beginning of many more initiatives aimed at making the NYSC experience in Lagos a memorable and impactful one,” Sanwo-Olu added.
