We are recruiting to fill the position below:

Job Title: Project Lead (Farming)

Location: Birnin Kebbi, Kebbi
Reporting to: Executive Director of GBHub Africa
Discipline: Operations
Sector: Consumer goods

Role

  • The Projects Lead will be based in Kebbi, Nigeria and have on-the-grounds responsibility for the implementation of the block farming concept in Nigeria, starting with proof-of-concept project for the tomato block farming project in Kebbi State in Nigeria.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Director in the design of priority products for the block farming projects.
  • Design annual project roll out plans for the block farms.
  • Lead in the execution of the block farming projects in the ground.
  • Responsible for local community stakeholder engagement, including community leaders, farmers, suppliers, etc.
  • Fully responsible for maintaining mutually beneficial relationships with farmers on the block farming projects, ensuring low attrition with farmers.
  • Work with agronomists to provide deep level technical support to farmers, leading to improved farm yields year-on-year.
  • Identify suitable locations for the implementation of future block farming projects
  • Provide leadership to local team to ensure a strong sense of team commitment and motivation.
  • Preparation and presentation of periodic project reports.

Requirements
Technical Competencies:

  • Minimum three (3) years of work experience in a Project Management or similar role.
  • Experience working on a farm setting in Kebbi State or Northern Nigeria and providing technical support to farmers
  • Experience in managing teams

  • Local community engagement.
  • Effective Communication, with fluency in Hausa language will be an added advantage.
